In 1987, Victory Christian Academy (VCA) opened its doors for the very first time to eight students. Thus began the legacy of top Christian schooling in the La Lucia, Durban North area as envisioned by its founders.
After being housed in amongst other places, an office complex, a cinema and a church hall, Victory Christian Academy, under the guidance of Pastor Trevor Yoko, who was the CEO of Accelerated Christian Education SA, found its permanent home at 34 Ronan Road, La Lucia in 1993.
In 1995 Victory Pre-School also opened its doors to their first group of 'small' learners, choosing as its slogan, "Future Leaders In Training". Today, Victory Pre-School has a expanded their facilities substantially, creating greater capacity for the high demand for quality care for our little ones.
Almost three decades later, VCA continues to offer the best in Christian private schooling available in the Durban North area. Their individualised learning methodology, as well as the internationally recognised curriculum that Victory Christian Academy subscribes to has made it a school of choice in the greater Durban area.
Current principal, Vernon David was appointed to oversee VCA in 2009. Until then, he had been a teacher at VCA for 12 years. He began as a Class Supervisor, and was promoted to H.O.D. and finally to the innovative principal he is today. He has made huge progress in improving the administrative, cultural and social profile of the school, which included spearheading a recently completed building project to house even more students.
World Class Education on your doorstep
VCA was recently awarded Global Model Status by Accelerated Christian Education in the US. This is a prestigious accolade, and VCA is the first school in Africa to be recognised this way. Global Model Status is an elite status earned by schools that exhibit exceptional academic achievements thus enabling their students to excel in their pursuit of life careers.
School staff motivate learners through positive reinforcement. Victory Christian Academy believes that the school’s achievement is attributed to many different aspects, especially the community’s support that has assisted the school to maintain an atmosphere where the youth of today can be effectively educated for their futures.
A Christian School that Stands Out
What makes VCA stand out from other private schools is their unique teaching system. The Accelerated Christian Education curriculum allows for students to learn at their own pace which ensures mastery of the subject material. Students set their own goals daily, detailing how much work they can complete in each of their subjects. They do this with the support of their class supervisors who encourage and aid learners to perform according to their individual potential.
All learning at VCA takes place from a Christian point of view. Teachings based on character, morals and values underpin all aspects of a student's learning. This ensures that when a learner leaves VCA they are not merely prepared academically but also stand out as well-rounded adults ready to take on the world at large.
Victory Christian Academy is 27 years old this year and continues to grow beyond measure. VCA's management and staff constantly strive to provide leadership and expertise allowing their learners to not just develop to their individual potential but to exceed it!
